Spring was born after viewing a computer generated photo exhibit of weathered trees morphing into beautiful women. She emerged from a piece of juniper that had been lying dormant for an untold number of years in West Texas. Because of her arching posture, she needs stability at her base.

A dense rare wood from the Sonoran desert, Ironwood provides weight and stability for her and offers a wistful reminder of the ferocity of desert weather.

When polished, Ironwood comes alive
in a bright sheen like the flash of a flood
in a Tucson lightning storm.
